Alumni Spectacular

University Galleries of Illinois State University is celebrating its 50^th anniversary from 2023-2024. We are thrilled to bring back the Alumni Spectacular to exhibit the work of the talented alumni who have been such a rich part of our history.

Information for alumni artists

Eligibility: Alumni of Illinois State University’s Wonsook Kim School of Art and Program in Creative Technologies

Please let us know if you plan to participate by completing this two-question survey . Please complete the survey by December 8.

Logistics

• Each artist may submit one work.
• Work must not exceed 20 inches in any dimension. Audio and video works may not exceed 5 minutes.
• All work must be ready to hang/display. (See below for requirements)
• All work must be able to be displayed on a wall, pedestal, or monitor.
• Artists are responsible for shipping (and insuring) their work to University Galleries via UPS or FedEx. University Galleries will return all art within the U.S., including insurance, at our expense via UPS Ground (except for those works dropped off in-person). Artists may deliver and pick up their work on the dates listed below.
• Work must be received by December 20, 2023.

Submission details

1. Complete the entry form.
   • Access and complete the entry form at this link.
   • You will receive a copy of your completed entry form via email.
   • Print the emailed form.
   • Include the printed form in the package with your artwork.
2. Complete the loan form.
   • Download the loan form from this link.
   • Review the form.
   • Print the form to sign and date, or use software that allows you to sign and date the form on your computer.
   • Sign and date the form on page 2. Typed signatures will not be accepted.
   • Email the signed and dated loan form to Gallery@IllinoisState.edu with the subject line “Alumni Spectacular.” Or include your printed, signed, and dated loan form in the package with your artwork.

  Artworks will be mailed out between March 4 and March 8. Any address changes must be confirmed in writing by February 20, 2024. Send an email to  Gallery@IllinoisState.edu   with the subject line “Alumni Spectacular address.”

• February 26 – March 3: In-person pickup
• March 4 – 8: Return shipping sent

“Ready to display” parameters

• Framing is preferable.
• If a work on paper is not framed, it must be mounted securely to foam core with a hanging device on the back, or we must be able to pierce it with pins.
• A supply of batteries must be provided for any works needing them.
• Artists are responsible for maintaining any technology-based works and ensuring that they are functioning properly for the duration of the exhibition.
• Any special hardware must be supplied by the artist.
• Artworks cannot be suspended from the ceiling.
• Videos should be formatted as follows:
  Preferred video file format: MP4 (H.264)
  Mac: Quicktime compressed as Pro Res 422 1080 60p; 48 khz audio (uncompressed) Windows: AVI files compressed as DVCPro HD 1080 60p; 48 khz audio (uncompressed)
