A large pyramid sits left of center on a desert horizon that divides the composition of this photograph horizontally. A massive stone Sphinx sculpture rests in the foreground, overlapping the bottom right of the pyramid on the horizon. The light source is coming from the left side of the frame. The Sphynx is facing to the right of the frame and is buried in sand from the shoulders down. The sky is a flat light gray. The image is predominantly in tones of gray, due to the process of the silver print.
